Individualize OJS Theme

I was hired by SLUB Dresden to design and build a theme that could adapt to dozens of diverse scholarly journals.

This theme was built for SLUB Dresden's open publishing service, Publia, which uses the open-source scholarly publishing platform Open Journal Systems to publish more than a dozen journals in multiple languages.
We devised a manageable set of configuration options for the site's colors, typography, and headers that could accomodate distinct disciplines and visual identities.
I wanted the theme to encourage journals to use good design and beautiful photography, so I mocked up several sample journals to showcase the theme options.
The theme also needed to look good when journals preferred a clear, accessible design with few or no images.
